In this type of migration, Windchill Bulk Migrator offers a complete solution to extract data from the source Windchill and load data into the target Windchill.

In this type of migration WBM offers a complete solution to extract data from source Windchill and load data into target Windchill.
The main steps are:

WBM loaders are installed on the target Windchill system and are also connected to the staging database to facilitate smooth data transfer and transformation before final loading.

A staging database is created to hold extracted data from the source Windchill system. This allows for validation, transformation, and cleanup before it is loaded into the target system.

WBM extractors are installed on the source Windchill system and connected to the staging database to securely extract and transfer structured data for migration.

WBM extractors' mapping files are carefully configured to enable real-time, accurate data transformation during extraction, ensuring seamless compatibility with the target Windchill system.

Extraction can be done using standard extraction (all objects of specified types are extracted) or using filtered extraction (only objects matching specific properties, ids ... are extracted).

Normalization takes place in the staging database to thoroughly validate references among related objects, ensuring data consistency and integrity across all interconnected entities.

Pre-load validation is then executed to confirm that references on the target system do exist, ensuring data consistency and avoiding broken links during the migration process.

Data is loaded into the target Windchill system using WBM loaders after validation. This step ensures that all transformed and verified data is accurately integrated into the target environment.

Once the data is validated as correct, it is published to the public domain within the Windchill environment. This makes the migrated data accessible to end users for day-to-day operations. Proper permissions and visibility settings are applied to ensure secure and appropriate access. Audit trails and logging are maintained to track data publication and ensure compliance.

In this type of migration the extraction and transformation is not provided within the scope of WBM and needs to be executed by the implementation team

Once data is loaded into staging database, WBM tools can be used as in a Windchill to Windchill migration, to load data into target Windchill.
